Hi everyone – news, news, news – finally, about the WSD 2nd Series.
Series 2 of the Women’s Social Days (WSD) will commence in July and run until November.
Series 2 is sponsored by the Office for Women (Victorian Government) – Change Our Game (COG) initiative and MDGC’s aim is to continue to increase participation by women and girls at all levels of play and leadership in disc golf in our club. That is why we have called Series 2 – “Changing Our Game”.
What is the ‘ Change Our Game’ initiative? Its a multi-facted intiative “Working to level the playing field for women and girls in sport and active recreation.” To find out more: http://changeourgame.vic.gov.au
Please spread the news.
Events will be monthly and will rotate through the three main courses, to give us all the opportunity to play and experience the different courses.
The WSD S2 rounds will be held within the Mixed Social Day Round, and will be 18 holes.
Times – Short, combined players meeting at 10:15am, and Tee off: 10:30am
Numbers will be capped at 12 players and women will be grouped together. (We can accommodate more players if this happens.)
Dates are as follows:
- Saturday July 9: Bald Hill
- Sat/Sun August 6 & 7: Women’s Global Event: Ruffey Lake
- Sunday September 4: Stony Creek
- Sunday October 9: Bald Hill
- Sunday November 20: Ruffey Lake
As well as the WSD rounds, we will be organising some specific skills development events. These will only run for 2-3 hours, depending upon the number of women who participate and the type of skill development for the session.
We would appreciate your feedback on what types of skills development you would like.
Events will be free to MDGC members and $10.00 for anyone who would like to play casually. If it is the first event you have played with MDGC it is free.
To join the club or renew your membership please click here. Non-Member casual fees can be paid here.
All participants must be members of Australian Disc Golf (ADG) for insurance purposes. It is free to join here.
The competition is open to all ages but minors must be accompanied but an adult. We have loaner disc sets for anyone who does not have their own discs.
You can see this slate of dates added to Disc Golf Metrix, where you will be able to register for events. If you don’t already have a Metrix account, you will need to create one.
Just a reminder too – we have had some players take the extra step and assist with the events – thank you! If you would like to know more about these opportunities, if you are interested in being involved, but can’t make any of the events, or you would like more information, please send an email to women@melbournediscgolf.com and we will try to accommodate your requests.
Thanks to you all for your support in making the first series a success and great fun – looking forward to more of this in the next series.
As always, we appreciate your feedback, comments, suggestions & queries – let us know.
