REPORT
Tournament: 2017 Kingston City Classic
Dates: Saturday October 14, 2017
Venue: Bald Hill Park, Clarinda, Vic
Format: 12 temporary baskets, 18 unique tee positions. 2 rounds for a total of 36 holes.
The 2017 Kingston City Classic has come to a close. Thanks to all who attended and helped to make this a fantastic success. We ended up with 33 people contesting across 10 divisions. The largest division by far was Novice which is exactly what we were aiming for. We had 5 people play for the first time in any type of competition and for others it was their first tournament. We were very pleased to have 7 women play in the tournament.
There are a lot of people to thank who helped out in many ways. They were thanked at the players meeting and awards ceremony but I have listed some of them below.
City of Kingston, Ray White Mordialloc for supplying the event signage, Merrilee Brunsting, Darren Stace Smith, Amy Stace Smith, The Heath Family, JABPDM, Justin Crow, Oscar Fehlberg, Chris De Groot, Paul Arden, Tarron Anderson and Yasmin Murray to name but a few.
The full tournament results can be found here https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/33788.
Congrats to Andrew Ferguson for taking out the Open division after a tie breaker play off with Cameron Ford. A special mention goes out to Dylan Feldman who stepped up to MA1 this year but ended up with the lowest score of the tournament. Well done to all the divisional winners as listed below.

It was great to have the City of Kingston mayor and some councilors visit us during the tournament to have a look at the course and chat with some of the players and park users.
We were excited to be able to hold the event at the Bald Hill Park in Clarinda as it is one of the parks that Kingston City Council has short listed for getting a permanent course. The park is an ideal location for disc golf with its rolling hills, manicured fairways and heaps of trees. It has great facilities including toilets and BBQ areas. Also, it is not shared with any other sporting facilities so Disc Golf would be able to be played year-round without conflicting with other calendars. The park is used by general park users and dog walkers but Disc Golf works very well around these as proven at courses such as Ruffey Lake and countless other courses around Australia and the world.
We are planning to hold the 2018 Kingston City Classic at Bald Hill Park again. It would be great to incorporate the permanent baskets that will hopefully be installed in the very near future.
To show your support please write to the Kingston City Councilors who are spearheading this for us using the contact details below. Let them know if you attended the event and if so what you thought of the park as a venue for disc golf. If you were not able to play at this event just let them know why you think disc golf is a great sport and how it can be a benefit for local parks. It would be great if you can CC the MDGC in your letters of support so that we can gauge the response. We received some fantastic letters for the recent Stoney Creek appeal. Thanks for that.
Please send letters of support to:
